World Vision is a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people, especially marginalized children living in poverty. As a child-focused organization, its work prioritizes the protection of children and ensuring their basic needs are met.
World Vision Vietnam (WVV) is supported by multiple countries and funded through a combination of sponsorship programs (majority), Grants and Private Non-Sponsorship (PNS) WVV operates across multiple provinces and implements Area Programs (APs) that focus on communities with high levels of poverty, often including ethnic minority populations. In addition to APs, WVV implements various PNS and Grant Projects to address the specific needs of vulnerable children in both AP and non-AP areas.
WVIV has plan of activities implementation in FY26 which agreed and approved by government which may need the support of volunteers for some community event. The purpose of this volunteer position is to support the implementation of selected community engagement activities and events organized by the project. Volunteers will assist the project team in preparing and facilitating community-based events, outreach activities, and related logistical arrangements to help strengthen communication, participation, and collaboration with community members and local stakeholders.
This position is intended to provide voluntary support on a short-term and flexible basis to enhance the effectiveness and reach of project activities. The engagement of volunteers is designed to contribute to community-oriented initiatives while offering individuals an opportunity to participate in social development efforts and gain practical experience in community activities.
This role is purely voluntary in nature and is not intended to create, and shall not be interpreted as creating, any form of employment, labor contract, or employer–employee relationship between the volunteer and the organization. Volunteers will not be considered staff members and will not receive salary or wages for their participation.
• Support AP staff in facilitating partnerships and connections among different local stakeholders (formal and informal community groups, and local government agencies) to mobilize resources for the well-being of children in alignment with the stakeholders mapping of the area
• Participating in the facilitation of AP planning activities at targeted communes for some community events
• Support Development Facilitator (DF) in facilitating annual community review and planning at targeted communes with a focus on impact, sustainability and effectiveness
• Participating in the process of supporting communities and partners to develop and implement community-based disaster preparedness plans
• Support DF in facilitating shared monitoring activities and reports in targeted communes
• Support AP team in preparing for refection meetings with participation of communities
• Participating in the annual program effectiveness/ PAF self-review and community-based groups self-review
• Support DF in strengthening child clubs and children led community initiatives
• Support local partners in MVC mapping and updates for AP contexts
• Utilize MVC mapping results for the implementation of technical project interventions/models to make sure MVC are included
• Support AP team in documenting best practices, lesson learnt and Most Significant Change (MSC) stories of MVC and their families.
The following knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training
• Bachelor degree in a relevant field (preferably social works, community development, public health, education, business development…)
• Passionate about giving back and would like to have a career in community development
• Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
• Be able to function well in a team environment
• Basic written English skills, particularly report writing skills
• Good computer skills (word processing, excel and power point)
• Humility, respect, and care for others – especially the vulnerable children
• Willingness to work at the project sites (village/ commune level) with frequent travel
