Implemented in 25 districts across 14 provinces and cities, our Area Programs emphasize on sustainability, community participation and community ownership to address poverty and other long-standing issues that compromise the well-being of children. An Area Program normally lasts from 10 to 15 years and has a holistic approach to improve child protection, child nutrition and health, household livelihoods, and community resilience to natural disasters, which contributes to bringing real, lasting change.
Woven into all program activities are elements of gender and disability to ensure that all groups in the communities are equally presented and benefited. Besides, child participation and living values are intentionally integrated into program design to empower children to contribute their ideas and become partners in community development.
Special Projects complement existing Area Programs but responds to specific issues such as trafficking in persons, physical violence against children, online child sexual abuse, poor maternal health care and poor market linkages for local agricultural products. With funding governments, foundations or corporates, a Special Project lasts between two and four years and is integrated Area Programs’ activities.
We act as a voice for children, vulnerable people and marginalized communities to draw attention and resources to child-related issues, reinforce policy implementation and catalyze positive attitudinal and behavioral change within the society.
Under Area Programs, World Vision Việt Nam works closely with local authorities to conduct needs assessment in the aftermath of natural disasters and coordinate the distribution of essential aids to affected households, especially those in the hardest-to-reach communities.
Besides relief work, World Vision Việt Nam also puts importance on communities’ preparedness and has years of experience in helping communities, schools and households minimize disaster risks and training Rapid Response Teams in performing evacuation, search and rescue.
